    The healing stuff is BS. It would have been used against her in her trial if there were any such reports. As it is, her trial could not assign any supernatural powers to her. This was one of the big issues they had and made it look very sketchy later when it was re examined. At the end of the day she was guilty of using male clothing which was considered a religious sin. But her ultimate crime was to sign a confession and then change her mind about it. Of course, she was likely physically threatened after confessing. Up to then it looks like she was still trying to survive. But after initial confession they must have really did a number on her...maybe even rape....that she decided to go back on her words and die. Very sad! She was injured a couple times in combat. Not just the one in Paris. She had been injured at Orleans too. And she got pretty injured on some escape attempt when she was still imprisoned by Burgundians. Its not just that the english did not ransom her. The french king also did not try. Which...it might have been hard and expensive. But there were no diplomatic attempts that we know. She was very much left on her own. And this was a thing almost immediately after the king got crowned. Its possible he didnt want her to be more popular. And because she would not just fade away...her destiny was set. Very sad. Its true that she showed a ton of common sense and mental ability during her trial. But she was also pretty scared and somewhat confused at times. The full transcripts are still available.

    Bishop Pierre Cauchon, the one who condemned Jeanne, is pronounced in French as Cochon (pig or porc) and so when someone plays a dirty trick on you the expression says "faire un tour de Cauchon ou de Cochon". The French have a long memory.

    hi once again english people don't treat patay like they should so i say it here again ( i will translate wikipedia ) French scouts) would have seen a deer fleeing in front of them, then the animal would have run straight towards the English lines who then uttered a cry accidentally alerting their enemies. In any case, the French became aware of the English position before it was sufficiently in battle order. The 180 knights of the French vanguard led by captains La Hire, Ambroise de Loré, Jean Poton de Xaintrailles and the constable Arthur de Richemont3, attacked the archers from the flanks which were not protected (due to lack of time) 4. They quickly disbanded. While the elite archers were cut to pieces by the French knights, the English knights fled the French cavalry charge. The French tactic of the heavy cavalry charge prevailed. It was Captain Jean Dagneau, under the orders of Grand Squire Poton de Xaintrailles, who took the famous John Talbot prisoner. This feat of arms brought him his letters of nobility, which were delivered to him in March 14385. The rest of the French vanguard composed of infantry arrived shortly after in order to assist the knights and kill the rest of the soldiers English always present on the battlefield. The English vanguard, not having knowledge of the battle in progress, seeing one of its commanders running towards them, believed that the English army had been defeated and in turn fell back, retreating. English military historians indicate 2,500 deaths on the English side out of the 5,000 engaged, 3 deaths and around a hundred wounded on the French side. The elite corps of English archers was put out of action; it will not be reconstituted1. Besides Talbot, many officers were captured by the French. not 100 death only 3 + one horse ( people always forget him, he is French war hero let's remenber him )

About a million times faster than heating water on the stove in a pan, and it tastes 5 million times better than heating a mug of water in the microwave. Brits and Aussies are constantly open-mouthed about why you guys don't have them, till we remember you guys run on piss-poor voltage and an electric kettle there would take, um, about twice as long as we're used to.

    Joan was not that great. But she was remarkable because it was not ok for a girl to be anywhere near front lines. And she was considered a witch because she did it. And because she worked as a massive cheerleader / rallying flag for French. And the english wished to just call her a witch in order to make people follow her less. Because, you know, if you make them believe they are following a devil they might be less inclined to do so. It did not work at all. But you can see what they tried there. You have a lot to learn about "Spain". You know nothing about the Iberian peninsula. At this point in time Portugal was already an established christian kingdom having stable borders for some time. Castille too had control of quite a big part of the peninsula. Muslim holdings were now reduced to small southern pockets and mainly the area around Granada. Problem is everyone was constantly at war with everyone in Iberia. Its also not true that Iberians are darker. Or at least not nearly as much as americans believe. This is mainly because americans get confused with south america being former iberian colonies. And mainly due to Mexico being the closest neighbour and being a highly mixed country with very strong native population. Both Spain and Portugal in Iberia never had any big numbers of south american natives. Neither any big numbers of african slaves. So both Spain and Portugal look quite different from south america or Mexico. Which is something most americans do not realize. Also, the muslim genetic contribution exists but its pretty low. Due to cultural / religious differences populations did not really mix a lot during muslim ocupation. Which is why it was always seen as forcible ocupation and why they were violently kicked back home eventually. Of course you have some people who ended up mixing but this mix is way more like north american natives with european settlers. Just imagine the natives were strong enough to kick the europeans out and imagine how their population would have changed...not that much.

  • @shakya00

    Ennobled families had "de" put before their last name. But as there was already a "D" as first letter they simply added '. D' = de. D'Arc = de Arc. The apostrophe is used to shorten the word that precedes in French, when it is for the following word in English (it's = it is). And also, contrary to English, we can't use both forms. "qu'il = que il" but we can't use the latter, it is invalid form. While in English you can both say "it's" and "it is" interchangeably

    • @shakya00

      The English didn't have a better artillery, they didn't have any either, but they had longbow men that made them win important battles. The introduction of artillery was made by the French army around Jeanne d'Arc time and made them take the advantage against the English.

    Interesting factoid about Joan (or Jean/Jeanne if you want to be all French about it), d'Arc (of Arc) is an Anglicised misnomer that implies she came from a place called Arc. I don't know if there is a place in France with that name now, but there wasn't when Joan was around. We actually even know where Joan came from (like it said at the beginning of the vid - 'Domrémy'). And like it also said at the beginning of the vid, her family name was - Darc (or Tarc depending on who you read). But, even then, she also went by the name Jean/Jeanne/Jeanette (or even Jehanne) Romée... doesn't quite have the same ring to it, does it?

    • @messire9837
      @messire9837 5 часов назад

      No... The chateau d'Arc used to stand in southern France, not too far from some mysterious village known as "Rennes-le-Chateau". Considering the fact her majesty Blanche de Castille made a stop right there during her journey from Spain to France, I'm pretty sure it was there when Joan of Arc was born... Inside it, as far as the truth about her is concerned. Also she got adopted by some peasant family who took the cognomen "d'ARCA", to hide her REAL identity. That which I can't talk about here, state secrets and all.

    In our country, not only do we go to the doctor, but we put a lot of emphasis on having a permanent doctor who knows us well. We also go to preventive inspections, there are several types. All this helps doctors make better and earlier diagnoses and treat patients more effectively. Healthcare in the US is like a vicious circle.

    He barely covered temperature, but this is where metric really beats imperial, because while °Celsius isn’t SI, °kelvin and °Celsius are the same with only the zero moved. To this point, 0°c is the freezing point of water and 100°c its boiling point.

    The EMS system of America developed much different from Europe - Ambulances prior to the middle 1970's did not have EMTs - they were just a ride to the hospital in a funeral home coach most of the time. Around that time because every city had plenty of fire stations, they tasked the Firefighters with learning how to provide medical care, then an offshoot of that was Ambulances staffed with EMT's - the Wedsworth-Townsend Act started it in California, so that's why you still see fire trucks responding first - they will typically get there a few minutes - or much more - before the Ambulance can. There are far fewer Ambulances generally than Fire apparatus & firefighters. It's a house of cards they built - Europe has a much better idea with Motorbike and SUV EMT's for rapid 1st response. It;s definitely a system that needs to be seperated.

    Due to the number of EMS calls and the horrible abuse of the system first responder firefighters are needed. The problem is that the big fire truck is needed for the big fire which could occur while they crew is out on on an EMS call. Also, not all fire alarms are false. It's better to show up prepared for a fire and be able to handle it immediately. Fire doubles in size every 30 seconds if left unchecked. Plus at a flow rate of 400 gallons per minute 1000 gallons will last less than 3 minutes.

    I blame cell phones, and giant dash displays in cars. People aren't paying attention anymore. They are more worried about text messages and GPS. Nobody can read a map and plan their own trip anymore. Dude knows absolutely nothing about firefighting in America. I am sure any of the major urban departments would allow him to do a ride along to see how it really is.
